Announcement From Broome Manor Golf Club – 24th March 2020
Following the Prime Ministers address to the Nation last night it should be no surprise to you that the course is now closed.
I would like to thank all the Staff at Broome Manor, The Trust, Howellers, SPGA, Twigmarket, American Golf and Members of the Golf Club Committee who have work tirelessly to keep Broome Manor functioning in these unprecedented and difficult times. For some of you your job and Livelihood is at risk and I hope that financially you are able to support yourself and your families.
The Lockdown is necessary to preserve life. Let’s hope that the loss of life nationally is minimal and that the Broome Manor Family stay Safe and Healthy.
The Government Lockdown is initially for 3 weeks but I think we all know that the current situation is going to go on for some time.
Broome Manor Golf Club has 2 employees. The Secretary and the Treasurer and they will continue to be paid. The Club also pay your compulsory England Golf, and Wiltshire Golf Ltd affiliation fees without which you cannot have a handicap or play official golf events. Just so you know the salaries are paid and affiliation fees are paid from your Broome Manor Golf Club membership fees. What is left goes towards prizes, insurance, general administration expenses etc. When this Crisis passes we will try to complete all events that remain (I hope there are lots) and also all Drawn Events that should have taken place during closure. For this reason all membership fees should be paid as normal and if you pay later the fees will be the same. If your financial circumstances are difficult due the Coronavirus Crisis and you are unable to pay please contact the secretary who may be able to arrange for you to pay later.
The Golf and Leisure Trust Ltd take payment for your golf fees mostly by Direct Debit. They use your payments to maintain the course and pay their Broome Manor Staff. The course will need to be maintained during Lockdown so that it won’t take long to get playing again when the situation allows. The Trust will be in touch with you soon with advice on what to do. For now I recommend that you do not cancel your payments.
The Club will update you with further information as and when it becomes available.
I wish you, your family and friends Good Health.
