Niamh Cripps, junior member of Broome Manor GC, aged 13, has been chosen to be one of only six England Golf young ambassadors for 2020. This truly is an outstanding achievement by one of our junior members and we are so proud of her.
She first sent in her application to England Golf with references from Lee Hayward (coach/mentor), Brendan O’Neil (member) and Paul Turland (member), which were well-received and liked, then out of 100+ applications (nationally) she was shortlisted to 35 and asked to attend a selection day in Birmingham.
She was asked to speak for 3 minutes about a topic close to her and not golf related – she spoke about the Benjamin’s Smile charity, which is something she is involved in and loves to support. After the selection day she spoke with Lee and said “it went really well but there were a lot of older juniors there” hinting it was a tough school. However, this girl has so much love and passion for everything about golf and not just her own game, she was the perfect candidate. Then she heard the news….she had been chosen to be an England Golf young ambassador (nationally)! This will involve promoting golf to young people, helping to improve the perception of how young people see golf and helping coaches grow the game. Well done Niamh!
